Oh, those vain poets.

Dear Kim,

I just done read you' thoughts about the role o' art in these here troubled times:

https://kimayres.blogspot.com/2020/03/a-call-to-action.html

Me can't believe that we got people who feel that art is a frivolous past-time, that it unnecessary right now. They couldn't be more wrong.

I must say though, negative people does serve a good purpose. They stop we in we tracks, make we take a second look at we role as creative people.

Look, a quick thought from me:

Art is the language for those who can't find the words, for all who need release. It helps us to dig our way out of the dark self, the frightened self, to seek a way out of it, to find that light we all so need in good times and bad.

I'm busy reaching out to people in Guyana, they are so scared...what with the virus and the threat of dictatorship looming.

I'm so busy trying to calm others, I almost forgot to calm myself.

Art helps me. I must sit still and think.

Dear Reader, if you passing through this space, or if you visiting Kim, share you' thoughts, nah?

  1. Someone (Rumi?) said that poetry is the language of the heart. My heart is (unlike the rest of me) multi-lingual. I am so grateful for art in all of its forms, and for Nature's rich palette and spectacular galleries.
    Stay well, stay safe.

    1. My dear Child, my heart, like yours, is multi-lingual.

Imagine if we only could hear one type of music, read one kind of book, hear only one song, every day.

I do hope you are well. I've found my way back to the blog, thanks to music.

  2. Neena - I'm honoured to be referenced on your blog - many thanks :)
    I love what you wrote:

In itself it beautifully explains what I was trying to say - you created a narrative that makes things more clearly :)

    1. Thank you, Kim. :-)

This is something creative people do, isn't it? We find our words, our music, pictures, through each other's work. So, it was your post and photos that helped me write this...it had been going around my head for some time, but I couldn't find the words.

  3. Creative people never get bored. We should always find time to make art, in whatever form that takes.

  4. Your site is looking very pretty. How have I missed Kim? I must beetle round there quickly! Trouble is since being in not so splendid isolation I have to clean the house and do all the chores and try not to 'let myself go! In the words of that ancient singer 'Life gets tedious - don't it?'

    1. Life has gotten in the way, Pat, it sure has.

Thank you, I'm glad you think the site looks pretty. I something wonder if it's too much...I'm a bit of a 'too much' person. :-D

I had to fight to not let myself go, to get chores done, and to learn how to format my manuscript. More on that later. I plan to read blogs for the rest of the afternoon, then write.

  6. Juvenal, do I understand this correctly?

"Art is the difference between man and the rest of living creatures."

I love this, love it so very much.

I'm going to spend days thinking about it. <3
